BOSTON—Ora, a global ophthalmic contract research organization (CRO), has appointed João (John) Trein, MD, MPH, as therapeutic lead, posterior, further strengthening the company's leadership in retinal disease and posterior segment drug development, according to an announcement from Ora. A fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and practicing retina specialist, Dr. Trein brings more than 20 years of clinical, surgical and research experience in retinal diseases, along with extensive expertise in ophthalmic drug development and global clinical trials. In his new role, Dr. Trein will provide strategic scientific and clinical leadership across the company’s posterior segment programs, helping innovators optimize study design, endpoint strategy, patient identification, safety oversight and program execution, Ora noted.
