A new report from Listen To This, a global coalition of industry leaders, academic institutions and NGOs working to advance hearing health worldwide, and GN, an intelligent audio company, reveals few Americans understand the impact their hearing has on their overall health. The report shows that while 88 percent consider exercise and 82 percent consider diet and sleep part of a long and healthy life, only 1 percent rank monitoring their hearing among their top five priorities for longevity, revealing a significant longevity blind spot. The study clearly showed that when hearing health is reframed as brain health, people act. Thirty-five percent of those who have never had a hearing test say they would seek one after learning about the connection between hearing loss and cognitive decline, making awareness the single most powerful driver of behavioral change. Additionally, the study reveals 78 percent of U.S. adults think about longevity at least weekly, with 52 percent considering it a part of daily life. Meanwhile, 18 percent of Americans have never had a hearing test, despite 60 percent believing it is easy to get one.
