Although Americans increasingly rely on the internet and AI for medical information, they continue to doubt the accuracy and reliability of the results. A new survey released by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) shows more than 80 percent search online for health information, yet only a small share feel confident in its accuracy. Nearly 6 in 10 Americans, however, say they are very confident in the information they receive directly from a health care provider, significantly higher than their confidence in online sources. As patients seek support navigating increasingly complex health information, nurse practitioners (NPs) play a vital role in helping individuals interpret information, understand their options and make informed decisions about their care, the report stated. Reflecting this growing demand, nearly three in four Americans support policies that would make it easier to choose an NP as their health care provider.
