Key Takeaways CooperVision launched the Made Better Promise, a global sustainability platform embedded across the lifecycle of its contact lens products, starting with MyDay. The initiative includes lower-carbon manufacturing, ISCC PLUS-certified packaging materials, and high recycling rates, alongside efforts to reduce overall environmental impact Through its partnership with Plastic Bank, CooperVision has helped collect and recycle more than 659 million plastic bottles while supporting coastal communities CooperVision has unveiled its new Made Better Promise, a global sustainability platform aimed at advancing more environmentally responsible choices across its contact lens portfolio, beginning with the MyDay daily disposable family. The initiative is designed to address the environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle—from materials and manufacturing to packaging and waste management. At the core of the program is Made Better Innovation with MyDay, which introduces updated packaging materials and manufacturing enhancements intended to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining product performance. The company will also continue its net plastic neutrality efforts, offsetting a portion of MyDay plastic waste through its ongoing partnership with Plastic Bank. Among the key features of the new platform, CooperVision highlighted its adoption of ISCC PLUS-certified materials in product packaging, making it the first contact lens manufacturer to implement such materials at scale. The plastic used in MyDay blister packs is now 100% bio-attributed and certified under the ISCC mass balance approach. Additional measures include manufacturing processes designed to lower carbon output through next-generation technologies and improved resource efficiency, expanded use of lower-carbon energy sources across operations, and waste management systems that enable manufacturing sites to recycle more than 90% of waste. “CooperVision’s sustainability progress begins with innovation—in materials, manufacturing, and the way we think about the full life cycle of our products,” said Aldo Zucaro, senior director of corporate responsibility at CooperCompanies. “The Made Better Promise reflects how we are turning those innovations into real-world impact through thoughtful choices that benefit both people and the planet.” The initiative also aims to strengthen CooperVision’s collaboration with Plastic Bank, a program that supports the collection and recycling of ocean-bound plastic while providing income opportunities in vulnerable coastal communities. To date, the effort has enabled the recovery of more than 659 million plastic bottles.
