MORGANTOWN, W. Va.—As part of May’s Healthy Vision Month, West Virginia University (WVU) has announced its assistant professor Heather Livengood of the WVU School of Medicine Department of Occupational Therapy who specializes in vision rehabilitation, is raising awareness about the effects of vision impairment experienced by more than 37 million adults in the United States. WVU said Livengood explained how natural light, glare and changing weather can worsen symptoms of common eye diseases including macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, and is offering practical tips for people with low vision and their caregivers.
